Round 4 @ Spa
After an intense first 3 rounds for season 3, the series landed at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps for round 4 of the Shannons Formula 3 Nationals. With the return of Daniel Byrne to the series, Michael Cutajar, Phil Vella and Jay Dixon have a massive challenge to keep up their recent performances against one of the strongest F3 drivers we’ve ever seen on SRWtv.
It was a sprint round format for Wednesday night, a 10 lap sprint which was won by Phil Vella, saw some fantastic battles and a massive performance from debuting Myles Burgess who started at the back of the grid and wrestled his way up to P13.
With a reverse top 10 grid for the feature we saw Nathan Verney start off pole for the 20 lap/ 40 minute race. After a couple of safety cars, some wild action and a first time ever for winning team Downforce Racing, it was Phil Vella taking a double win on Wednesday night, just beating out his teammates Jay Dixon and Sean Malloy who rounded out the Podium for our feature race. Allowing him to close his gap to Michael Cutajar at the top of the standings leading into this race.
We move to Hockenheim for Round 5 next week for yet another massive night of racing for the Shannons Formula 3 Nationals.
